We will address unique circumstances when we are on-site sampling with the property owners.

We do not know and that is one of the questions we are trying to address with this project - whether soils are contaminated and how this contamination might impact the use of the soils for growing fruits or vegetables.

Unfortunately, we are limited by funding and time constraints and will be unable to do additional testing.

We will be notifying property owners if their property has been selected by the end of March.

Our study design will allow us to address this question. It is currently unclear if soil contamination could result from the downwind transport of ash or soot.

We will only sample from properties with the consent of the property owners (consent is granted upon submission of the online sign-up form). If your property is selected for inclusion in this study, we will reach out to you to arrange sampling.

We estimate that soil sampling will start in mid-April, but we will keep you updated on the specific timeline.

Not necessarily. We will choose properties from the group of volunteers and you will be notified if you have been selected. The selection of properties will be based on location and logistical constraints, aiming for an equal number of fire damaged and undamaged properties for inclusion in the project. 

No. Homeowners will be able to view the results from their property in the context of the other properties sampled, but location-specific information will not be shared. Only you will have access to specific data from your property.

We hope to provide data to homeowners by Summer or Fall 2022. However, we will provide regular updates to keep participants informed of the status of this project.
